Content ?NWRB Executive Director Dr. Sevillo David Jr. welcomed the members of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) led by K-Water (PMC) General Manager Dr. Young Ho Shin for the updates of the project Integrated 3D Geographic Information Systems (GIS)-Based Water Resources Management Information System in the Provinces of Pampanga and Bulacan.

The KOICA team presented the project's first progress report showing the future model and executive plan of the system. They were able to display high-resolution 3D photos of water dams based on the gathered data from the established GIS database. Through this system, real time images can be viewed and statistics can be calculated remotely without visiting the area.

During the open forum, the components on predicting areas to be affected by flood in case water dams overflow, simulation of expected water level using predicted rainfall amount and system flow of water irrigation were thoroughly discussed. It was said that these features are not yet included in the first phase of the project but it can be incorporated in the next phases.

It was also inquired if the project can be duplicated to other provinces aside from the pilot areas Bulacan and Pampanga. Representatives of KOICA explained that the original plan is to apply the system nationwide but it was limited to two provinces due to budget considerations. Nevertheless, the project can be implemented in Visayas and Mindanao but there will be a need to recompute all the water resources data because statistics will be different in those regions.

The Integrated 3D Geographic Information Systems (GIS)-Based Water Resources Management Information System in the Provinces of Pampanga and Bulacan Project aims to enhance the capability and decision-making support system for water resource plan, management and policy making
